Two Google Homes Different Rooms Levels Both Answering : googlehome

A collection of Sonos speakers that are connected and playing the same audio stream are referred to as ‘rooms’. You can then ‘group’ rooms together to have them all play the same sound at the same time. The Google Home app for Android or iOS will do the job of setting up new Google Home speakers for you, once they’re plugged in and ready to connect—just choose Add then Set up device from the Home tab.

Additionally, it will not interrupt playback for one user when another user gives a voice command. Google Home is your one-stop shop for controlling all of your web-connected smart home products, from thermostats to Chromecast devices. The best part about the app is that you can have multiple individualized accounts, with all of them linked to every Google Nest device on your network.

Follow the instructions on screen to connect the speaker to your Wi-Fi network and apply any updates. Tick boxes to play your music in the room you’re in, so you can select multiple HomePods at once or switch the audio output from one speaker to another as you move between rooms. HomePods can be grouped together in stereo pairs too, which is done during the setup process or from the Home app in iOS . We're assuming you have a few Google Home speakers and several smart home devices, like a smart light bulb or smart switch, throughout your house. You might already know that if you say, "OK, Google, turn on the lights," all of the connected smart lights in the house will turn on. If I ask Google Assistant to play music in the “Family room,” the Assistant will play my music on all three speakers at the same time.

Link Your Music Accounts

These bonds can be removed but you’re likely going to experience some diminished sound quality. The bonding happens automatically to try to generate the best audio experience. When you want to play music from a HomePod, you can tap the AirPlay button in any compatible app on mobile or desktop —it looks like an upward arrow pointing into a rectangle. Your installed HomePod speakers will show up as options.

At the top of the stairs there's a short hall with a bathroom, and two rooms. There's about 15 actual stairs, and then about 20 feet around a corner and into a room for separating the two. If the device is assigned to a room, you'll see the room name directly under the device name.

Issues with volume control

However, you can pair your Google Home speaker with Bluetooth speakers around the house. With this feature, it is possible to have a multiroom audio experience with a mixture of Google Home and non-Google Home devices. Google Assistant can recognize up to six different users.

As such, you will not miss an appointment simply because you were not in the kitchen when your smart speaker mentioned the reminder. While having a single Google Home smart speaker in your home adds a ton of functionality and convenience, having multiple devices can significantly improve your experience. In order to make the most of them, you need to familiarize yourself with the world of options they unravel as well as how to get down to business. Once everyone who will be using Google Home has a personal account, switching between them is easy.

Tap on the device name to edit, then tap Room to select which room the device is in. If the room isn't correct, tap Room and select one of the preset rooms from the list or scroll to the bottom and select Add new room. Creating a room will also allow you to say something like, "OK, Google, turn off everything in the bedroom," and all connected devices in the bedroom will power off. Audio will immediately stop to play on that device.

As I said before, even with MULTIPLE Spotify accounts the playback on different devices does not work either. One of our kids likes to listen to music as she goes to sleep . Sometimes, we still have music on in the family room on the play 5. This has always worked in the past, until last week. Selected play in the kids room, family room stopped. It doesn't matter from which of our iOS devices we operate the Sonos app and on which speakers we want to play something.

Adjusting your group settings

Certain speakers will come in bonded pairs, typically when they’re following the 2.1, 5.1, or other common speaker combinations. A pioneering recommendation platform where you can research, discover, buy, and learn how to connect and optimize smart devices. Google has also joined the multi-room music party, so you can send tunes to speakers in different rooms as well as to one speaker in particular. If needed, several speakers can be grouped together, even of different types.

I think there might be something to the account factor. I have a GH on my Gmail account, but my phone mostly uses my Google Apps account. If I use "hey Google" only the GH replies, but "OK Google" will trigger my phone and GH. Once your devices are assigned to a room, you'll no longer have to specify which devices you're talking about when you tell Google Home to turn on the lights or lock the door. Assigning devices to rooms is really quite simple. Or you can be more specific by using preset speaker groups.
